Hi Guysssss (Cape Cod/1st Clinic Day)

So the pictures from the Cape are hiiillaaaarious. Apparently I look really good when I'm shoveling mulch. And I'm going to start hitting the gym immediately... :p

Okay, so the first advocacy clinic day was last night!

Two main clients came in, both of which were helped primarily by William, since he speaks fluent Spanish. Last night I reconsidered my training in French, and it would've been kind of cool if I could have stopped responding with "oui" every time someone said something to me in a language other than English :p.

It was alright, though, with William's help Ken was able to help a family search for a new place to live and Tyler and I (with everyone's kibbitzing) were able to draft a letter to the Boston College Legal Clinic to help another client form his defense in his eviction case.

For next time, I will remember to try to look up some basic Spanish phrases (hi, how are you, do you speak English, etc) and remember that even if there is a language barrier, every bit that we can do to help people that come into the clinic helps more than if no one saw them at all. Everything counts!

Well, thats it for now. I'll post some more after Thursday's clinic.
