My name is William Rubin and I am from PR, so if you need any help with your Spanish homework, you can count on me. I am a rising Senior at Brandeis University and my Majors are Philosophy and Economics.
We went to the Tenant Advocacy clinic yesterday where we helped a family consisting of a middle-aged woman with her parents who where interested in moving away from an attic. Me and Ken where able to find multiple apartments and we also helped them contact some of the landlords. They also expressed interest in purchasing an apartment instead of renting it. Both the daughter and the parents where complaining about the mold found on the walls and the ceilings, but they seemed happy with the overall experience they had with their landlord (to which he even wrote a letter of recommendation for future landlords). Overall, they just wanted to find a smaller, more affordable place, without causing any trouble for the current landlord.
The other person that Fiona and Tyler were helping couldn't speak any English. Adolfo was currently living with his wife and children when he received his 14 day notice. He complained about the lack of utilities (no heat for a year, broken toilet) and an infestation of rats and cockroaches. He also told us that the landlord was aware of his living conditions, but ignored his requests. We gave him the numbers for the Waltham health dpt. and the law firm. Adolfo was mostly worried about being kicked out at any time and being left out in the streets along with his family. The professor recommended we look into other housing options for Adolfo and his family, after we solve these issues.
